All Motorola Android devices come with a locked bootloader. Without unlocking your bootloader, you won’t be able to root or flash a custom recovery on your device. What is Unlocking Bootloader?
The bootloader is the program which runs first when you start your Android. It manages up everything. For security reasons, some Android phone developers decided to lock their bootloader. Motorola is one of them. To root and flash recovery you should unlock the bootloader.
How to Unlock Bootloader on any Motorola Device
Take a backup of your personal data. Because unlocking bootloader may wipe out your data from the device. Then, make sure that you have charged your Motorola smartphone around 30% or more.
Step 1: Open your Motorola device and go to Settings. Then go into About Phone > tap on several times on Build Number until you see the message ‘You are a developer’. Then go back to Settings > Developer mood and turn on USB Debugging and OME Unlock.
Step 2: Turn off your device. Now, Press & hold Vol down + Power button 7-8 seconds.
Step 3: Now you will see the recovery mood on your screen.
Step 4: Connect your device to the computer using the USB cable.
Step 5: Download & install the Minimal ADB & Fastboot tool on your computer.
Step 6: Open the ADB terminal and use this code ‘fastboot oem get_unlock_data’.
Step 7: Now you will get the unlock code in the command window. Just copy the unlock code from it.
Note: Don’t copy the <bootloader> prefix.
Step 8: Paste the code into notepad and remove the space between them. Then copy the code.
Step 9: Go to the official Motorola official website and login to it. If you don’t have the account, then you must register.
Step 10: Now go to the Motorola bootloader unlocking webpage. Scroll down and click on Next.
Step 11: Paste your copied unlock code at the 6 No. box and click on ‘can my device be unlocked?’ button.
Step 12: Select ‘I Agree’ and press the Request Unlock Key button.
Step 13: After that, Motorola will send the special unlock code on at your registered email address. Just copy the code from it.
Step 14: Now open the ADB command window and type ‘fastboot oem unlock PASTE THE UNLOCK CODE’.
Step 15: At the end, Wait for a little bit and your device will get the bootloader unlocked.
You will get the bootloader warning screen on your mobile device. That indicates, your device is successfully bootloader unlocked. So, let us know if it was successful or not.
